I opened The Urban Shave in San Diego in 2009 with a simple belief: barbering deserves the same respect and professionalism as any skilled trade. Years later, I brought that same philosophy to Flagstaff, setting up shop right here on historic Route 66.
For me, a haircut isn’t about chasing trends or rushing people through the chair. It’s about understanding how your hair naturally works, paying attention to the details, and building a haircut that still looks right long after you leave the shop. That’s the standard The Urban Shave has been built on since 2009.
Today the shop runs appointment-first. Good work takes time, and booking ahead means that time is yours. Whether you’re a Flagstaff local, an NAU student, or passing through on Route 66, the chair’s ready when you are.

Mason is a graduate of The Urban Shave Registered Apprenticeship Program — licensed by the state, trained by Dave, and shaped by hundreds of real cuts before his name ever went on the books. The result is a barber who works with calm precision, from the first guard to the finishing touches.
Every appointment with Mason begins with a thorough consultation: taking into consideration your hair’s texture and growth pattern, and the amount of time you want to put into your hair each morning. From there he builds a cut that fits your life — one that keeps its shape as it grows out, not just on the drive home.

Isaac’s barbering journey started out of necessity—cutting his own hair to keep up with fresh fades. That passion quickly expanded to friends and family, leading him to formal training and a career behind the chair. Now studying Business Management at NAU, he brings precision fading, seamless tapers, and sharp beard sculpting to the shop. His technical skill and eye for detail make him a go-to barber in Flagstaff.
